Food Waste to Energy through Innovative Coupling of CHP and Heat Pump

This paper presents the conceptual design of a technological solution for efficient conversion food waste into heat and power. The distribution composition loss at different stages supply chain in Slovenia their potential biogas production were determined. It was found that more than 50% comes from households. Therefore, small plant designed to convert biogas, which innovatively coupled with combined power (CHP) unit pump. doubles amount generated compared conventional cogeneration. Based on capacity micro commercial CHP unit, 3330 households (about 8000 residents) would waste. could replace 5% natural gas used domestic water heating. payback period be 7.2 years price about 80 EUR/MWh, however, municipalities 40,000 inhabitants reduced less 3 years. cost by this system 25 taking account government subsidy operation unit.
